The Boeing 747 is a large, long-haul, wide-body airliner designed and manufactured by Boeing.
Two 747s were modified to carry the space shuttle orbiter, they are called Shuttle Carrier Aircraft (SCA).
The first was a 747-100 (N905NA) and the other a 747-100SR (N911NA).
The first SCA carried the prototype Enterprise during approach and landing testing in the late 1970s.
Later they carry all five operational Space Shuttle orbiters
