It represented the pinnacle of piston engine fighter development.
The Sea Fury was introduced after the end of the Second World War and saw action in the Korean War against some of the first jet fighters, where it performed admirably.
In 1946, the first deck landing trials took place. The Sea Fury remained the Fleet Air Arms' main single-seat fighter until 1953, when it was replaced by the jet-powered Hawker Sea Hawk.
The aircraft was also used by a number of air forces overseas, including as a fighter, trainer and high-speed target tug.
The aircraft also became very popular in the world of air racing, where its brute strength and sheer speed made it victorious in countless competitions.
