Built in Finland, the Vesikko was actually a prototype of the German Type II submarine class.
The Vesikko, also known by her production code CV 707, entered service with the Finnish Navy in 1936 and served until 1944.
She took part in both the Winter and Continuation Wars and became a permanent exhibit at Suomenlinna Fortress in 1959, where she has been on display ever since.
