It is designed to fight and survive during the day, at night, and in adverse weather conditions.
The Apache's primary mission is to destroy high-value targets with the HELLFIRE missile, primarily enemy armored vehicles.
It is also capable of using a 30 mm M230 nose cannon and Hydra 70 (2.75 in) rockets, which are lethal against a wide variety of targets.
The Apache has a full complement of aircraft survivability equipment and is capable of withstanding hits from rounds up to 23 mm in critical areas.
The AH-64 is air-transportable in the C-5, C-141, and C-17.
The crew consists of the pilot in the rear cockpit and the co-pilot-gunner (CPG) in the front cockpit.
