The P-38 Lightning was an American twin-engine fighter aircraft manufactured by Lockheed.
It was the first Lockheed fighter aircraft to officially enter service.
The P-38 variants were used during World War II and approximately 10,000 were produced. Equipped with intercoolers under the engines, the P-38J Lightning produced 1,450 hp at high altitude and a maximum of 1,600 hp.
It had greater range thanks to fuel tanks in the leading edges of the wingtip in addition to the main fuel tank.
