The Curtiss P-36 Hawk was an American fighter aircraft of the 1930s and 40s. It was one of the first fighter aircraft of a new generation - an all-metal monoplane with retractable landing gear.
The P-36 was hardly used by the United States Army Air Forces during World War II.
It was the fighter aircraft most successfully used by the French Air Force during the Battle of France.
