The Hawker Siddeley Harrier was a vertical take-off and landing fighter, reconnaissance and attack aircraft.
The Royal Air Force ordered the Harrier GR.1 and GR.3 variants in the late 1960s.
During the Harrier's service, the RAF stationed the majority of its aircraft in West Germany to defend against a potential invasion of Western Europe by Warsaw Pact forces.
The Harrier GR.1, GR.1A and GR.3 were single-seat versions for the RAF.
The RAF ordered 118 examples of the GR.1/GR. series.
