The Sukhoi Su-33 (NATO code: Flanker-D) is an all-weather, twin-engine, carrier-based air superiority fighter aircraft designed by Sukhoi and manufactured by the Komsomolsk Amur Aircraft Production Association, and derived from the Su-27 and originally known as the Su -27K.
Compared to the Su-27, the Su-33 has a reinforced landing gear and structure, folding wings and stabilizers, all for carrier operations. The Su-33 has canards and its wings are larger than those of the Su-27 to increase lift.
The Su-33 has upgraded engines and a double nose wheel and is air refuelable.
