The North American P51 Mustang is considered one of the legendary American fighters of WWII. The Mustang was designed to RAF specifications and changed after the Rolls Royce Merlin engine was fitted.
Its long range and excellent firepower made it an excellent escort fighter, able to protect the bombers all the way to Berlin and back. After the war, the P51 saw action in Korea and was used by some air forces until the early 1980s.
