The Morane-Saulnier MS.406 was a French single-engine fighter aircraft.
At the outbreak of war with Germany in 1939, it was the French Armee de l'Air's most numerous fighter aircraft.
Although it was characterized by good maneuverability and agility, its performance was far behind that of the Messerschmitt Bf-109E.
