The Ruslan is still the largest mass-produced aircraft in the world. Since its first flight on December 26, 1982, the An-124 has set a whole series of new payload records; the maximum take-off weight is 405t with a payload of 150t. Remarkable design features are the nose that opens upwards and the large loading doors at the rear, which enable simultaneous loading and unloading.
