The Osprey is a tiltrotor equipped with two tilting engines fitted with large three-bladed propellers that allow it to land and take off vertically like a helicopter, and also has similar flight and transfer performance to a conventional propeller-driven aircraft.
Thanks to its two powerful 6150 hp Rolls-Royce T406-AD-400 engines, it can exceed 500 km/h in level flight.
The United States Marine Corps is the primary user of the aircraft, notably leveraging its tactical versatility and the V-22's transportability for operational support during airborne landings.
The Osprey saw its first operational missions in Iraq in 2008.
