The Eurofighter project, which was developed by a consortium of European companies from the second half of the 1980s, aimed to create an advanced multi-role combat aircraft.
The result of the project is the “Typhoon”, one of the best air superiority fighters in the world.
Its aerodynamic design features canard delta wings.
Thanks to its two EuroJet EJ200 turbofan engines, the Typhoon can reach a top speed of Mach 2. The onboard technology improved by the fly-by-wire control system enables excellent maneuverability in air combat.
The main user of the Eurofighter is the British Royal Air Force together with the air forces of Germany and Italy; 160 units are in use in the fighter squadrons.
