In 1941, the new German fighter Focke-Wulf Fw 190 entered service and the British hastily developed the Spitfire Mk.V into the Mk.IX with a better engine and also introduced a new type called the Hawker Typhoon Mk.I into service.
The introduction of the Typhoon brought problems, and as it soon became clear that the Typhoon did not meet the requirements set for it, Hawker began to design an improved version, which eventually received a new name due to the numerous changes: Tempest.
It became one of the best fighter aircraft of the Second World War.
