Overseas, however, the French and British showed interest in the type and placed orders.
In Britain, the type was named Maryland and while the French aircraft arrived in time to be involved in the defence of France in 1940, the British ones were used in Africa and over the Mediterranean by units of the RAF and SAAF.
Some of them also flew in the reconnaissance role, made famous by the outstanding reconnaissance pilot Adrian Warburton.
