The AH-64A Apache is the U.S. Army's primary attack helicopter.
It is designed to fight and survive during the day, at night, and in adverse weather conditions.
The Apache's primary mission is to destroy high-value targets with the HELLFIRE missile, primarily enemy armored vehicles.
It is also capable of using a 30 mm M230 nose cannon and Hydra 70 (2.75 in.) rockets, which are lethal against a wide variety of targets.
The Apache has a full complement of aircraft survivability equipment and is capable of withstanding hits from rounds up to 23 mm in critical areas.
The AH-64 is air-transportable in the C-5, C-141, and C-17.
The crew consists of the pilot in the rear cockpit and the co-pilot-gunner (CPG) in the front cockpit.
