The Dassault Mirage 2000 is a fourth-generation, single-engine, delta-wing multirole combat aircraft manufactured by the French company Dassault Aviation.
It was developed in the late 1970s as a light fighter to replace the Mirage III of the French Armée de l'air.
The Mirage 2000 evolved into a multirole aircraft with several variants sold to a number of countries.
The Taiwanese Air Force ordered 48 single-seat Mirage 2000-5E and 12 Mirage 2000-5DI trainers in 1992.
The first squadron entered service in 1997 and the last combat aircraft were delivered in 1998.
