The Ar 66 C became one of the most widely used training aircraft in the Luftwaffe, used until the end of World War II.
They were assigned to the flight schools FFS A/B 4 in Prague-Kbely, FFS A/B 11 in Schönwalde, FFS A/B 23 in Kaufbeuren and FFS A/B 116 in Göppingen.
After the formation of the disruptive squadrons in the Luftwaffe, the Ar 66 C began to fulfill the role of night bombers, following the example of Soviet units equipped with Polikarpov Po-2 or Polikarpov R-5 aircraft.
The conversions were carried out in the aircraft workshops at the airport in Německý Brod.
On October 7, 1943, the light night bomber squadrons were renamed night battle groups.
