The Westland Lynx is a helicopter designed by Westland that first flew on March 21, 1971. Originally intended as a utility vehicle for both civilian and naval use, military interest led to the development of both battlefield and naval variants, which entered operational use in 1977. Original production version for the British Army Air Corps, later adopted by the armed forces of over a dozen nations. The helicopter is now produced and marketed by AgustaWestland. The Mk.88 is still flown by the German Navy today.
