While the C-130J retains the familiar lines of the Hercules, which has been a common sight in the skies for decades, it has been extensively redesigned.
The most visible change is the use of two 4700 hp Rolls-Royce (Allison) AE2100D3 engines with six-bladed composite propellers, ensuring quiet operation and low fuel consumption.
Performance features include excellent climb speed and an extended range of action thanks to the new engines.
An equally important development is avionics: the cockpit is equipped with new digital instruments and a head-up display that provides the pilot with a constant stream of data without having to take his eyes off the cockpit window.
