The F-106A Delta Dart was a brand new interceptor developed based on the Convair F-102A Delta Dagger. Thanks to its modern electronic equipment, the interceptor had excellent operational performance, thus becoming the US military's main weapon in intercept operations.
The F-106A made its first flight in the late 1950s and was retired from service in 1988.
It was the last special interceptor of the US military.
Its long service life made it one of the best fighter aircraft in the Century Series.
Due to its modern technology and high reliability, it was never exported.
The F-106A is called the "Ultimate Interceptor".
