A total of 246 Mirage F.1s of all versions served with the French Air Force.
The F.1 was successfully exported. In Europe, it flew in Spain and Greece.
In South America the Mirage was used by Ecuador, but also in Africa and Asia the F.1 aircraft were widely used, namely in Gabon, South Africa, Morocco, Libya, Iran, Iraq, Qatar and Kuwait.
n these air forces, this variant of the famous Mirage family flew combat missions around the world, including simulated dogfights over the Aegean Sea between Greek F.1s and Turkish fighters, French aircraft saw action over Chad, Libya, Afghanistan, Mali, the Ivory Coast and even against Iraqi Mirage F.1s during the 1st Gulf War, Ecuadorian F.1s were used in cross-border engagements with Peru.
And South African Mirages were also used as ground attack aircraft and fighters in the border war with Angola and Mozambique during the long period, often against Cuban-flown Soviet Mig 17s, 21s and 23s.
Libyan F.1s also saw brief service during the 2011 civil war when several fled to Malta.
