The Rafale is a fourth-generation fighter aircraft manufactured by Dassault Aviation for the French Air Force.
Equipped with a large delta and canard wing as well as two powerful engines and a single large rudder.
In the air force it replaced the Mirage F1 and 2000 and in naval aviation it replaced the Etandard and the F-8 Crusader.
The French Navy's Rafale M was used extensively in operations in Libya in the first half of 2012, alongside variants used by the Air Force.
