The aircraft was fitted with a more powerful engine to increase speed and altitude.
Some aircraft were also fitted with increased firepower to combat large Allied bombers.
By the end of 1943, the BF-109 G was the backbone of the Luftwaffe and was used in all theaters of operations, successfully competing with the Allied air force until the end of the conflict.
After the war, Avia continued to build the Messerschmitt Bf 109G-6 in Czechoslovakia under the name Avia S-99 in two aircraft factories.
