The Sukhoi Su-34 multi-role fighter aircraft (NATO codename “Fullback”) is a two-seat Russian twin-engine fighter aircraft capable of attack, interception, ground attack and maritime strike roles.
It was developed on the basis of the reliable design of the Sukhoi Su-27 “Flanker” fighter aircraft to replace the Sukhoi Su-24 “Fencer” swing-wing aircraft.
The Su-34 is characterized by the large cockpit, in which the two crew members, the pilot and the navigator/gunner, sit next to each other.
Thanks to its two powerful Ljul’ka turbofans, the “Fullback” reaches a top speed of 2000 km/h.
It can be used in adverse weather conditions and in very harsh environments.
It is armed with a 30 mm cannon and can carry an impressive variety of air-to-ground weapons and air-to-air missiles thanks to its 12 attachment points.
The Russian company Sukhoi has also developed a special version for export called the Sukhoi Su-32 FN (Fighter Naval).
