The main part of the German Wehrmacht's fleet during the Second World War consisted of 3-ton trucks. One of the most numerous of them was the V3000S, which was produced in German Ford plants in Cologne since 1941. This truck was equipped with a V8 engine and had rear-wheel drive only.
V3000S trucks were used everywhere in all German arms until the end of the war - on the Soviet-German front, in North Africa, Italy, France. Off-road, not all powered vehicles showed poor off-road capability, so large numbers of V3000S were produced as mule half-tracks.
In the second half of the war, the vehicles were equipped with simplified driver's cabs, so-called standard driver's cabs (Einheitsfahrerhaus).
A total of about 25,000 V3000S trucks were produced between 1941 and 1946 in German, French and Dutch plants.
