At the end of World War II, the piston engine fighters were at the absolute peak of their development. Within just five years, highly tuned machines were developed, more impressive performance today: twelve-cylinder engines with almost 2,000 hp made speeds of over 700 km / h. After the Second World War, the steel engines displaced the piston engine as a prime mover of fighters. However remains are sounding names like "Hurricane", "Spitfire" or "Mustang" - machines that excite on airshows regularly thousands of spectators with their performances (and the sound).
