A three-volume work on the deployment of the German 2nd Panzer Division in Normandy in 1944. The last act of this battle began on August 13 with the relocation of the 2nd Panzer Division from Alencon to Argentan. This retreat exhausted the division's men. After briefly growing hopes as a result of a German counterattack, the 2nd Panzer Division soon saw itself threatened by the danger of being trapped in the Falaise-Argentan pocket.
The losses of the 2nd Panzer Division in the fighting along the banks of the Seine are high, but at the end of August the armored unit managed to break out of the pocket and cross the river. A slow retreat through France towards the German border began for a unit that, due to its heavy losses in the Normandy battles, urgently needed replacement and rest. On more than 300 pages, the author describes in chronological order the events surrounding the German 2nd Panzer Division from the fighting in the Falaise pocket to the fighting in retreat towards Rouen and the German border. The author uses a large number of rare and partly unpublished photos, reports from eyewitnesses and documents
Normandy 1944. 2nd Panzer Division. Volume 3: 13 août - September 1944
French text, approx. 400 bw and color images. and 30 cards, large format. 352 pages.
