The Lynx entered service in 1977 and has since received many upgrades and improvements.
The Mk8 naval variant entered service with the Royal Navy in the early 1990s and has since proven itself to be an excellent maritime attack helicopter, performing well in both anti-submarine warfare and search and rescue missions and more recently in anti-piracy operations off the coast of Somalia.
Heavily armed with either rockets, depth charges or a heavy machine gun, the Lynx is more than capable of taking on the world's best surface ships as well as any potential underwater threat.
