The Sd.Kfz 182 Panzer VI Ausf. B "Königstiger" heavy tank was put into service with the German army from mid-1944.
It differed greatly from the Tiger I and was characterised by its heavy weight (almost 70 tonnes), the remarkable armour, the forward inclined hull and the long 8.8 cm KwK 43 L/7 gun.
The Tiger II was capable of reaching a top speed of 42 km/h with its Maybach V-12 engine.
In 1944, the Königstiger saw combat action for the first time during the Battle of Normandy.
