“Dreadnought” became the first ship in the world, during the construction of which the so-called “all-big-gun” principle (“only big guns”) was implemented - its armament included ten 305-mm guns and there were no intermediate-caliber guns.
The Dreadnought also became the world's first battleship with a steam turbine power plant, which provided it with a very high speed of 21 knots for those times. Due to its advantage in speed, the new battleship could choose a combat distance that was advantageous to it and, thanks to a larger number of 305 mm guns, had undeniable tactical advantages over the battleships of that time.
