LCM 3 (Landing craft mechanized)

The Landing Craft Mechanized (LCM) is arguably the most famous landing craft in history.
Its profile is closely linked to the Allied amphibious operations of the Second World War from Anzio to the beaches of Normandy.
The LCM-3 variant is certainly one of the most successful.
The design was simple and straightforward, yet extremely rational.
The large front loading ramp enabled the rapid landing of a fully armed infantry squad and a 30-ton Sherman tank.
The armor was very light and protected the diesel engine, which allowed the LCM to reach a maximum speed of 8 knots, as well as the crew of four necessary for navigation and close defense.
