Battleship Yamato Anchors (1:16)

The 15-ton main anchor and stern anchor of the Imperial Japanese Navy capital ship YAMATO.
The YAMATO was built at the Kure Shipyard in Hiroshima, Japan, and launched in 1940.
She weighed over 70,000 tons and required a massive anchor to remain stable in rough seas.
The 15-ton main anchor was over 5 meters long and mounted at the bow.
A smaller 3-meter anchor was mounted at the stern.
A replica of the main anchor is installed in Kure City Central Park.
