The Be-200 "Altair" is a Russian multi-purpose aircraft for fighting forest fires, for disaster relief, for water search and rescue as well as for military purposes. The first flight took place in 1998 and production began in 2003. The Be-200 was in use in many southern European countries in the Mediterranean region and helped put out forest fires. It can effectively draw 12 tons of water in 14 seconds.
