The British Carden-Loyd tankette originated in the 1920s - 1930s. Originally designed as a one-man tank with MG, but since the driver could not operate the MG at the same time, the crew was increased to 2 men. The small vehicle (247 x 170 x 122 cm) weighed 1.6 t and could reach speeds of up to 45 km/h with the help of its 40 hp (30 kW) engine.
There were several versions of the Carden-Loyd that were built or used under license not only by the British but also by many other countries. Although it ultimately failed to meet the military's expectations, it significantly influenced the development of small tanks.
