The Hawker Hurricane was the most widely used fighter aircraft of the British Royal Air Force at the beginning of the Second World War.
It made a decisive contribution to the victory of the R.A.F. during the Battle of Britain, but in the course of the war it gradually had to cede its role as a fighter to the much more modern Spitfire.
However, the Hurricane successively changed its role with new designs and very specific equipment.
The Hurricane Mk. IIC had an armament of four 20mm Hispano-Suiza machine guns, with almost 400 rounds of ammunition.
Being equipped with the 20mm guns instead of the usual 7.7mm machine guns made the Hurricane extremely effective in ground combat and close support.
In addition, the Hurricane Mk. IIC was effectively used as a night fighter.
