The industrial might of the United States guaranteed the production of thousands of M4 Sherman tanks, many of which were transferred to the Allies under the Lend-Lease Act.
Great Britain was one of the main recipients of Shermans - a total of 17,184 vehicles.
The Sherman V (according to British nomenclature) was an M4A4.
This variant of the Sherman with missiles on the vehicle was modified in the field and achieved success against enemy targets. It also gave the British troops a significant morale boost
