Out of a total production of 300 aircraft, the RAF received two versions of this fighter, the F.Mk.XVIII with the standard E-wing and the FR.Mk.XVIII which included a camera for photo reconnaissance. Too late to see action during World War II, these powerful Spitfires were used against communist guerrillas as part of 'Operation Firedog' and during the Malayan Emergency.
