In view of the great popularity of sporty compact models, another sports car came onto the market in 1966 with the Camaro. As usual, the pony car was available in various equipment versions. A special variant was the Z/28 version, which made it possible to take part in a US racing series. In 1969, most of the first generation Z/28 Camaros were sold, with over 20,000 units.
