The Italian name of the vehicle produced in the 1980s refers to its main feature: four-wheel drive. At the time, four-wheel drive was indeed an important innovation for a vehicle that was to achieve high sales figures. The “Quattro” guaranteed good driving performance and excellent roadholding on all types of surfaces.
The longitudinally mounted front engine was capable of delivering considerable power.
A competition version was also developed, which debuted in the World Rally Championship in 1981 and achieved good results. The success of the “Quattro” continues to this day, so much so that the Italian name has become a real “brand” that characterizes the entire current range of four-wheel drive Audi vehicles.
