Compared to the Escort Mk 1, which was presented at the Brussels Motor Show in 1968, the further development could not be overlooked.
The first-class mechanics were carried over from the previous version, but a completely new design radiated the aesthetics and style of the 70s.
In addition to the normal passenger cars, an Escort Sport was also presented, which was characterised by a more aggressive look and a strikingly sporty interior.
Finally, the RS 1800 model with Cosworth BDA engine (115 hp) was presented, which was the basis for the cars used in the World Rally Championships.
The legendary Zakspeed team built and used a special version of the Escort Mk 2 in 1977 /1 978.
