The Fairlady Z had already sold over a million units between its debut in 1969 and 1983 and enjoyed great popularity. In September 1983, motor enthusiasts were treated to the release of the third generation of the car; While sticking with the successful long nose, short deck design concept, it was aerodynamically sophisticated, with minimal drag and adorned with semi-integrated pop-up headlights. All grades of car featured a turbocharged V6 engine, with the top-of-the-line 300ZX being the 2,960cc VG30ET, whose 230hp was the highest among Japanese sports cars. It featured MacPherson struts up front and canted suspension at the rear, as well as triple-adjustable shock absorbers and four brake discs - ventilated at the front and fixed at the rear.
