On the Eastern Front, in 1943, vehicles of the Sturmgeschütz Abt.202 were equipped with wooden protective planks that were bolted to the sides of the lower hull using welded-on, very simple brackets. The attachment of these wooden planks varied; the side protective planks varied in size, shape and position, and were therefore mounted slightly offset on the left and right. Apparently, the simplest design, in which the protective planks were attached to two attachment points on the left and right, proved to be the most practical. The planks were heavily worn at the edges after a short period of use, and in some cases the steel tracked aprons were later attached over the protective planks. In operational photos, these wooden protective planks can definitely be seen on the Sturmgeschütz III Ausf. F, but they are also said to have been used on the Sturmgeschütz III Ausf. F/8. Our upgrade kit includes additional vehicle parts that were often used to reinforce the armor, such as four fan covers, two additional road wheels in a disassembled state without bearings or hub covers, and segments of replacement track links. The components of the MR-35669 set are designed for the Blitz by Takom Sturmgeschütz III Ausf. F kits and should fit all corresponding Sturmgeschütz kits of today's standards, although very old kits may require minor adjustments.
