The Flak 41 was superior to its predecessors in all ballistic performance values (shot height 14,700 meters, range 19,800 meters, muzzle velocity 980-1,000 meters/sec. and cadence 20-25 shots/min.) and thus came in ahead of the larger 10.5 cm and 12 .8 cm almost the same. But it was also more complicated to maintain. With a Sd.Anh. 202 the gun was made mobile, mostly by a half-track Sd.Kfz. 8 drawn.
Due to its penetrating power, like its predecessors, it was often used in ground combat. The first mission took place in North Africa.
