The Polsten was a Polish development of the 20mm Oerlikon anti-aircraft gun.
The Polsten was designed to be easier and much cheaper to build than the Oerlikon.
The Polish development team worked with the British after the German invasion of Poland, allowing the cannons to enter service with the Commonwealth forces in 1944.
