The SA-2 Guideline is a Soviet anti-aircraft missile that entered service in 1959 and was also supplied to several other countries. The missile reached a speed of Mach 3 and could engage targets at a range of 5 to 29 kilometers and at an altitude of between 500 meters and 27 kilometers.
The SA-2 became known by shooting down a U-2 spy plane in May 1960. The SA-2 was also used extensively during the Cuban Crisis and the Vietnam War. Although now obsolete, the system (partly modernized) is still used in some countries today.
