The Rheinbote was developed and tested by the Rheinmetall company from the two-stage predecessor "Rheintochter" as a four-stage solid-fuel rocket in 1943/ 1944.
In contrast to the unit A4 (V2), which could carry an explosive charge of 1 t over a distance of 300 km, the Rheinbote could only carry an explosive charge of 25 kg over a distance of 220 km.
The Rheinbote missile was used in wartime operations from November 1944.
220 missiles were fired at Antwerp.
