The Sd.Kfz. 251 (Sonderkraftfahrzeug 251) was a German armoured half-track infantry fighting vehicle from the Second World War, which was developed by the Hanomag company on the basis of the unarmoured Sd.Kfz. 11 vehicle.
The vehicle was developed to transport the armoured infantry into battle.
With at least 15252 vehicles and variants produced by seven manufacturers, the SdKfz. 251 was the most frequently produced German half-track vehicle of the war.
The Sd.Kfz 251/9 - armoured personnel carrier equipped with a 75-mm L/24 gun with low velocity and the same base gun mount as the StuG III.
Nicknamed "Stummel" - a revised gun mount including a coaxial MG42 was introduced in 1944 to facilitate production.
