The Sd.Kfz.253, based on the Sd.Kfz.250 light half-track family, was used by Germany as an observation vehicle for artillery forward observers. This observation car observation vehicle was fully enclosed and did not feature the open-topped compartment found on the standard half-track. A total of 285 Sd.Kfz.253 were manufactured by Demag and Wegman from 1940 to 1941. Interestingly, there is a war photo of a very rare conversion of an Sd.Kfz.253 with a Panzer I turret fitted to the half-track hull.

Logically, the kit uses parts from the latest Dragon new generation Sd.Kfz.250 items. These are the highest quality Sd.Kfz.250 models available on the market. The turret also comes from Dragon's highly acclaimed Panzer I family. The vehicle also features a set of Magic Tracks to make assembly easier for the modeler. This Sd.Kfz.253/Panzer I turret combination was extremely rare, but now modelers can add their very own miniature version to their model collection.
