The Heavy Wehrmacht Tractor, or sWS for short, was manufactured in Germany from 1943 to 1945 as an inexpensive, heavy military tractor.
It is mainly divided into two versions, an armored version and an unarmored version, which were used to carry supplies or tow vehicles.
The sWS was manufactured by Bussing-NAG and Tatra Fabrik in the Czech Republic, but only 825 units were produced before the end of the war.
In 1936, the German company AEG was commissioned to develop infrared night vision devices.
It was not until 1942 that it was successfully developed and handed over to the troops for use. By the end of the war, around 50 Panther battle tanks were equipped with FG1250 infrared night vision devices and rangefinders.
The sWS and SdKfz251 half-track vehicles accompanying him in combat are equipped with 60 cm UHU infrared searchlights.
